Loco and Reckless Productions is an Irish theatre, TV and film Production Company. It has produced TV for young audiences for RTE, a revival of Lennox Robinson’s play The Far Off Hills for Nomad Theatre Network and three one man shows - The Man In The Woman’s Shoes, I Hear You and Rejoice and The Mysterious Case of Kitsy Rainey written and performed by Mikel Murfi. Originally from Sligo, Mikel Murfi trained at Ecole Jacques Lecoq, Paris.
His performances in theatre include Swan Lake/ Loch na hEala (Teac Damsa); The Man in The Woman’s Shoes (Loco and Reckless Productions); The Last Hotel and Ballyturk (Galway Arts Festival/Landmark/Wide Open Opera); The New Electric Ballroom (Druid); The Chairs (Blue Raincoat Theatre); Morning After Optimism, Playboy of the Western World (Peacock Theatre); The Comedy of Errors, The Tempest (Abbey Theatre) Giselle, Rite of Spring and Petrushka (Fabulous Beast) Desire Under The Elms (Lyric, Hammersmith).

The Ballad of Kid Kanturk, Intermission, Sweety Barrett, The Butcher Boy, Love and Rage, Guiltrip and most recently Jimmy’s Hall. As a director Druma and John Duffy’s Brother.

A One Man Theatre Show Written and Performed by Mikel Murfi. Commissioned by the Hawk's Well Theatre Sligo and Sligo Arts Office as part of Bealtaine 2012.
The Man In The Woman’s Shoes has toured extensively in Ireland since 2012. It has played three time in NYC at the Irish Arts Centre in Manhattan. It ran for three weeks at The Tricycle Theatre, London in 2016 and 2017 to full houses. The show went to Paris to the Irish Cultural Centre in 2018. It is available for limited touring.
The show was created with the support of the Sligo County Council Arts Service and The Hawk’s Well Theatre, Sligo as part of the Bealtaine Festival celebrating Creativity as we age. Late in his life, Pat Farnon, a cobbler and all-round contented man, embarks on a journey he had not quite planned and finds that every twist in the road can bring its own surprises. Written and performed by Mikel Murfi, this show is the 2nd collaboration between Sligo County Council Arts Service, The Hawk’s Well Theatre Sligo, and Mikel Murfi. It was created for the Bealtaine Festival - Celebrating Creativity As We Age. Following on from The Man In The Woman's Shoes and I Hear You and Rejoice, this third in the series, takes us on a very unusual and otherworldly journey. Having married Kitsy Rainey late in life, cobbler Pat Farnon finally decides to lift the lid on a life previously lived by his wife. And all the while, Pat faces down his own reckoning. Tender, heartfelt and joyously funny The Mysterious Case of Kitsy Rainey finishes out Pat Farnon's journey in a most unexpected way. This show is a 3rd collaboration between Sligo County Council Arts Service, The Hawk’s Well Theatre Sligo, and Mikel Murfi. Additional support for The Mysterious Case of Kitsy Rainey was provided by Irish Arts Center, New York.
